Dr. Tabbye Chavous is the Vice Provost for Equity & Inclusion and Chief Diversity Officer at the University of Michigan, and a professor of education and psychology.
She leads the Office of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (ODEI), working with ODEI unit leaders and staff on initiatives for students, staff, and faculty, as well as in collaborations and partnerships with campus units, and local community and national partners. Dr. Chavous reports directly to the Provost and is involved in academic affairs, working with the Provost’s team on faculty recruitment and retention, tenure and promotion, and faculty development. In her role as Chief Diversity Officer, she also meets regularly with the President as the principal adviser on DEI issues and provides overall leadership of these efforts, including oversight of U-M’s DEI Strategic Plan initiative.

Director of the National Center for Institutional Diversity (NCID)
Elizabeth is the director of the National Center for Institutional Diversity and a professor of women’s and gender studies; psychology; and Afroamerican and African studies. She is a member of the editorial boards for Psychology of Women Quarterly and American Psychologist, and her research is widely published.

Kim Lijana is responsible for empowering and developing staff to reach their goals and advancing CEO’s mission while building an outreach community of practice among faculty at U-M.

Carla is responsible for the development, implementation and ongoing improvement of the Wolverine Pathways initiative. Her team works with targeted school communities to provide enrichment and exposures that aim to increase the likelihood that promising young people apply, attend and graduate from the University of Michigan.

April serves as the HR Business Manager for ODEI. In this role, April uses her change management experience to partner with the UM Talent Acquisition Team, supporting the behavior-based interview model concept. She also works on the Business Office DEI implementation plan where HR and DEI intersect.
Senior Financial Analyst
Chad serves as a financial analyst for business activities related to all funding sources in OAMI and CEO. Chad began is career at the University of Michigan in 2010 where he supported sponsored research projects.

Julie’s current focus includes business operations (finance, HR, marketing and communications, facilities) for all ODEI units, including the OVP office. Current special projects include the ODEI reorganization, and the exploration/implementation of Salesforce applications.

Denny serves as the financial analyst for Wolverine Pathways, National Center for Institutional Diversity (NCID) and the ODEI affiliated groups.

Hillary joined the Office of Diversity, Equity & Inclusion in 2022 as a writer and communications specialist focused on storytelling initiatives.

Alyse is an experienced videographer, graphic designer, photographer and artist who has worked both across the world and locally at the Toledo Museum of Art and Kalamazoo College.
