Tyne Lucas serves as Executive Assistant to the Deputy Chief Diversity Officer and Director of Implementation for the Office of Diversity, Equity & Inclusion. Tyne provides administrative support and coordination for the implementation of the University’s five-year diversity, equity and inclusion strategic plan. She is responsible for scheduling and coordination of monthly meetings for the network of over 90 implementation leads in 51 units across campus. Tyne also serves as a diversity, equity and inclusion lead for the Provost’s Office, where she coordinates events and activities to address issues of diversity, equity and inclusion and increase staff awareness and aptitude.
Tyne joined the University in 2015 and brings to her role a wealth of experience working in the public sector. Prior to her role at U-M, Tyne served as a Service Center Coordinator for Washtenaw County, where she oversaw the delivery of workforce development services to unemployed workers.
Tyne grew up in Detroit and received her BS in communications from Eastern Michigan University. She is passionate about access to higher education for students from underserved communities and supports for first-generation college students.
