To Our Entire University Community:

By all accounts, this Presidential election was one of the most divisive in recent history and by most accounts defied the experts with regard to the outcome. As a result, there is a general sense of uncertainty regarding the future. One thing is certain, the University of Michigan remains unwavering in its commitment to achieving the goals of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion through our new strategic plan.

In order for us to reach our goals, we must all live, learn, and exist together in a respectful manner even when we have differing views about important things. This is not only a mandate for our U-M community, it is an imperative for our country if we are to effectively deal with the many issues that we face. Once again, we have an opportunity to lead the way.

– Rob Sellers, Vice Provost for Equity and Inclusion & Chief Diversity Officer
