About the Team

The Communications and Marketing Team at the Office of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (ODEI) is a dedicated group that offers support to ODEI units, teams, and affiliates, as well as contributes to university-wide DEI initiatives at the University of Michigan. Comprising dynamic professionals, the team approaches its responsibilities from various perspectives, aiming to provide holistic support to enhance the broader goals of both the office and the university.

Areas of Support

  • Communications & Marketing Strategies: Our office employs comprehensive communications and marketing strategies to effectively convey the mission and values of the Office of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion. Through targeted campaigns and messaging, we aim to engage diverse audiences, fostering a sense of belonging and promoting awareness of our initiatives.


  • Executive Communications: We prioritize clear and impactful executive communications to ensure that the leadership’s vision and commitment to diversity and inclusion are effectively communicated. This includes crafting speeches, messages and other materials that reflect the values and goals of our office.


  • News Articles & Features: Keeping our community informed, we produce news articles and features that highlight significant events, achievements, and stories related to diversity and inclusion at the University of Michigan. This serves to celebrate successes, share insights, and promote dialogue within and beyond our academic community.


  • Photography/Videography: Visual storytelling is a powerful tool, and our dedicated photography and videography team captures the essence of our initiatives. Through compelling visuals, we convey the diverse experiences and perspectives within our community, contributing to a rich tapestry of narratives that reflect our commitment to equity and inclusion.


  • Social Media: In the age of digital connectivity, our social media presence is instrumental in reaching a wide audience. We leverage platforms strategically to share updates, engage in conversations and amplify the voices of our community members. Social media serves as a dynamic space for dialogue and awareness-building.


  • Website Design and Development: The virtual face of our office, our websites are meticulously designed and continually developed to provide a user-friendly and informative experience.
