The University of Michigan Board of Regents approved the appointment of Robert M. Sellers as the university’s first-ever chief diversity officer. Sellers, who has served as the vice provost for equity, inclusion and academic affairs for the past two years, was recommended for the position by U-M President Mark Schlissel and Provost Martha Pollack.
On Oct. 6, 2016, the University of Michigan embarked on a historic journey, launching its first-ever universitywide strategic plan for diversity, equity and inclusion.
Later this month, the university will launch a survey of students, faculty and staff on the Ann Arbor campus to gauge the climate regarding diversity, equity and inclusion. The survey is part of the university’s five-year strategic plan for making the campus community more diverse, equitable and inclusive.
